Could be you've left your gas cap loose. This will turn on the "Check Engine" light. If so, tightening it will not turn it off immediately. You need to drive it for a while (Manual says 3 trips... whatever... a while.)

OR

SOmetimes the ECU decides it's time to drive your adrenaline up. It will sometimes turn on the Check Engine light for no good reason. In this case reset the ECU. THis is documented in the Archive here at https://www.s2ki.com/article/archive/15/

This fixed it for me and it hasn't come back.

OR does it say "Maintenance required"? Sounds silly but it happens.. happened to the last guy who posted this problem here.

If a CEL light comes on there is a reason for it....period. Some are really dumb (like a loose gas cap) which sets a code as a failure to pressurize the fuel cell (a vapor emision failure mode). If any of you take a car in please have the dealer provide the codes which are either "set" or "pending". Many of us here are very knowledgeable on the OBD-II diagnostic system. If you can provide codes as noted we can tell you what the issues are, even if the dealers can't. Some of their equipment is not updated to accept the S2000 Manufacturer specific data set.

Thanks utah.........Removing my aem cia and back goes the stock box this week ...goes for service next week for the check engine light and first oil change.......i'll get the codes......i guess i should ask them to take a look at the plugs too.......especially #4. Is the Check engine light just for emissions stuff or does it handle internals of the engine too?

yes is was the fuel cap, i went back to my car in the evening and checked, it was looses, i filled gas this past week end and might not have paid attention to it ( had my Girlfriend with me )
well i tightened the cap, but still took it to my dealership. they confirmed it was the fuel cap, and fixed it,

Thanks a lot guys, i hope this was a help to others out there
