WOW, somebody had fun.
I was on my 3rd lap at Little Teladega Grand Prix shifting from 3rd to 4rth when I fels what seemed to be something on the road. I exited the next turn and applied full throttle in 4rth and the engine cut off and smoke poured out of the rear. If it wasn't for the smell I would have thought it to be the motor. The was no warning! This was a ap1 diff with 38k miles. I have never clutch dumped it! In fact I baby the diff because of all the issues I have seen.
At this point I have a ap2 diff with 30k miles in there now. I hope it holds up. Welding the old one isn't a option. There isn't a single piece of the diff that is reusable.

I am suspecting the end caps. I already talked to Hartopguy about the solution he is working on. I just hate spending money on something Honda should have built better.

Yeah..
Honda should have designed a rear end capable of handeling about 80% extra power.

there is no way that will ever be more than scrap. The AP2 will be fine for now but, HTG can hook you up with a better set of caps than the OEM. The AP2 still uses grade #8 bolts to hold the caps in place they will distort under heavy load.
