First of all, I am not mechanically inclined at all, hell I paid someone to install my CAI.

I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to remove the comptech CAI filter element to clean it.

Drive it like you bought it...

Give me one week and I will respond. My comptech CAI should be here next week (long back order) and I'm planning on installing myself.

It's pretty easy...

1. Remove box cover
2. Locate the screw-tighten clamp near the right inner sidewall of the box that secures the filter to its hose
3. Use a flat-head screwdriver to loosen the clamp
4. Gently pull out the rivet (attached to filter) from the eyelet (in the box), on the left side of the filter.
5. Lightly wriggle the filter free from its hose

Note: When putting the filter back in the box, be careful not to let filter oil get to the hose/clamp or they will keep slipping when you try to tighten the clamp to the hose.
