i really wouldnt stress it. i have some start ups that make some clunking sounds, its just the nature of a violent start up, so many things move and jult in that split second when hitting the button. i tend to hear it mostly when the car has been sitting for a while(a cold engine will start up very abruptly).

also, i'd give the car some time. everything is still starting to settle in. i'm at 6k miles and i'm still noticing changes in the cars acts/performance over the 1k mile marks.

 

I have an 07 with about 300 miles on it and it does the same thing I think.
I noticed that it happens when I start the car with the transmission still in gear.

Ya know put in the key. Step on the clutch. Then hit the magic button... *Thunk*

I think it has to do with the hydraluic assist in the transmission being pressured up. So

I put in the key. Step on the clutch. Take it out of gear. Then hit the magic button... Nothing but beatuiful humm

 

My '04 has done this since day one, if you're referring to the little "shudder" you feel during cranking when the engine catches. I just attribute it to inefficient combustion / misfires causing vibration until it catches - never worried me.

Sometimes it will misfire or run roughly upon the first cold start after a long interval sitting, but never pulls a CEL.

my 02 has the same clunk, and my o6 ap2 with 567 miles has the same clunk also.. it seems normal to me.. only louder when its cold.. ??
