Default clutch bleed fail

I went to bleed my clutch today after work and thought it would be really easy. Well i also thought that the slave cylinder would be a little easier to get to. All i had was the jack to my car, and after about 30 minutes of trying to get a tube around the bleeder i gave up. My friend has jack stands which i was dumb not to use thinking it would only take 5 mintues, but how do i go about putting the jack stands up if they are too tall for the jack i have for my car?

I use 1.5 ton jack stands and I just barely get the car over them with my craftsman low profile jack which lifts roughly 15 inches. So you'll either have to get a jack that will lift higher or a jack stand with a lower standing height.

5 minutes or 5 seconds you should always use jack stands if you are under the car. maybe you can use a piece of 2x4 or even a 4x4 so your stock jack can lift high enough to place jack stands.

When it bled my clutch a couple of days ago, I jacked one side up and put 2 jack stands on the frame rails on 1 side, put wheel chocks 2 wheels which I didn't lift. I have a low profile jack but it got the car high enough to let my 3 ton jack stands get under and lift up 2 clicks. I lifted the driver side btw. Also an easy way to bleed is just to unbolt the 2 12mm bolts and let the slave cylinder hang.

never, never use just a jack. thats how most people die is the jack rolls, it's a 3,000lb car being held in place by a 25lb jack.

you do the math. be safe man, dont ever do that again.

s2000 is not 3000lb plus you are only lifting maybe half of its weight. there is no reason why the jack will roll unless you are on a hill but yes never work under a car with a load on the jack only. always jack stands please.

Good friend of mine almost died when his jack failed and no jack stands were present. Miracle he survived after being crushed like that.

Even with jack stands you have to be careful. I take extra precautions by using jack stands, wheel chocks, partial load on jacks in case jack stands fail, and wheels under the side in case those fail.
