??? so a 10lb jack stand would be better? what does weight of an object being used to support a car have to do with anything. so your saying i have to use a 6000lb support to be safe? jack stands always and i leave the jack and throw a rim or two because my life is worth more than any rim that can be replaced

 

Yep, use a jack stand, leave the jack in the same position, and a full size steelie (i use my brother's accord wheel) underneath the frame frame. Thats what i do.

Your life/injuries not worth being lazy or "it looks safe".

 

I set the car onto the jackstands, then leave the jack jacked up not lifting the car but just holding it's place on the spot of the car i'm working on. I always like to have some kind of safety net. It's just not worth dying over something stupid like not using jackstands.
