Default Clutch bleed (new slave)

I was following the gravity bleed diy for bleeding my brakes/clutch. Brakes went great! Pedal feels awesome. Clutch not so much, there was still air in it. So i removed the slave, pointed the bleeder up, and tried that. During this i figured it'd be a good time to grind the nub off the rod. While it was out the internals of the slave came out and the resavoir went dry. I put the slave make together, tried gravity bleeding it and just cant get the air our.

Is there a certain way to do this? Slave out, bleeder up, now where should i position the push rod in the slave? Hold it in or out? How long should i leave the bleed screw loose?

Tried bleeding it again.. Ran out of fluid again after refilling i held the piston in, held the bleed screw up and opened it up. Lots of air and then straight fluid. Put it back together and aside from hearing a slight hiss (as if the slave is leaking) it seems to have done the trick.

I do it a little differently, in case you are looking for an alternative method:

Fill the reservoir and put a plastic tube from the slave bleeder valve to the bottom of a cup with the tube end submerged in brake fluid. Have someone press the pedal all the way down (I just wedge a short 2X4 between the seat and the pedal). Open the bleeder valve and close it a few seconds later. Let off the clutch pedal, then repeat several times.

This method moves the fluid much faster and likely loosens bubbles that might not otherwise escape. It also is fast and can be done by yourself.

Thanks for the reply slalom. I think i have all the air out...or did. Im thinking the slave is leaking and maybe trapping air every so often. Do they sell the seals for the slave cylinder somewhere or am i better off getting a new one?
