Default Clutch Buzz

Hi All,

I have noticed when im decelerating in 3rd gear i hear the tranmission/engine buzzing quite loudly.

I read TSB 54 on clutch buzzing, and was wondering if 2003 models should still be experiencing this problem with its clutch plate? i only thought buzzing only occured to those models from 2000-2002, and the problem was then rectified from 2003 onwards.

Maybe the previous owner grinded the clutch a few times causing it to wear?

Need some input.

Thanks.

Unless the previous owner swapped for a aftermarket clutch your car doesn't have the 00-01 disc that was noisy. 00-054 only covered 00-01 cars. Everything built after 02 has the quieter disc from the factory.

then should i be looking at buying an aftermarket clutch disc?

Car has only done about 24,000 Km.

I myself have grinded the clutch pretty bad twice when shifting into 2nd.

You may need to go back to a completely stock set up. I went with a performance clutch to support my SC set up and got clutch buzz in both 3rd and 2nd usually between 2K-4K. Has something to do with aftermarket parts. JMHO.

I get the same thing around 2nd and 3rd gear around 2-4k rpm. I just learn to live with it, I guess it common even for the 2003.

is it like a vibration from transmission coming up thru the shifter?
I had that on my old MY99 JDM car

When I had my TODA clutch kit in it still did it but then when I went back to an OEM clutch it disappeared

I never figured it out

My 2006 has a similar buzz when decelerating in 2nd or 3rd between 2-3000 RPM.

I didn't notice it at first, until I had gotten used to the sweet sweet sound of that engine and realized that the buzz was a little out of place.

Good to know that it's "normal" I guess...

My 00 has it, as expected for the model year.

I got an aftermarket clutch/PP/flywheel combo and it sounds much better. It's still just as loud (if not louder), but the sound itself is better...hard to explain.

Although it buzzes as much as it used to, now it sounds like it's supposed to be there rather than something is broken.
