Clutch Chatter/buzz

Clutch Chatter/buzz
I looked at several topics here in the forum in reference to clutch chatter. First I have a 2001 s2k with 95,0000 miles. One of the previous owners replaced the clutch with what I'm told is an ACT clutch. The problem I get is chatter on de-acceleration around 3000rpms. I have seen the honda service bulletin in reference to friction disk replacement. I want to get rid of this noise. Should I just replace the friction disk with the oem replacement and keep Act Pressure plate? If so will this solve problem even though I have an ACT clutch setup, or Should I just change everything back to OEM? My mechanic said if your in there might as well replace everything "You don't know what the last guy did." I tend to agree but I don't know how the oem clutch setup is compaired to the ACT Clutch setup. Keep in mind That I have no intentions of using this car on a track or racing it. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I was under the impression that the buzz was due to backlash existing between the gears themselves within the transmission, and that the only way to fix it would be to swap out the gears for new ones. Also, that the buzz was basically harmless.

It's annoyingly harmless, but according to Honda service bulletin replacing friction disk corrects the problem. Just want to know if others have done this and what the outcome was. If I replace friction disk but kept existing ACT pressure plate will it reduce noise or should I just replace everything and put in OEM friction disk and pressure plate.

I did the TSB054 to my '00. By about 35k miles the car sounded like a #$%^ing Yugo or something when I was decellerating from about 4k to 3k rpm. I got tired of people asking me what was wrong with my car.
I'd owned the car since 3k miles; I'm pretty easy on the equipment, so I replaced only the disk and some grease. (I did, however, make that decision after the old clutch parts and flywheel were on the workbench in my garage.) 5 years and 35k more miles later, all is still well.
It's hard for me to advise you on what to replace for several reasons:
First, you say you'll replace the clutch and then talk about your mechanic's recommendation. Are you doing it, or just paying someone else to do it? I'd take fewer chances if doing it over later would cost me $600 in labor instead of just a couple of evenings of my time.
However, at 95k miles I'd probably replace everything and expect it to last the life of the car.

I'm just trying to get rid of that annoying buzz. I have no plans to add more horsepower so having an ACT clutch setup is not a big seller to me if I can't get rid of the buzz. So I guess the real question is do I go with OEM clutch setup or an aftermarket which does not have clutch buzz issues?
