Clutch Costs
With labor and taxes my new clutch is running me 1800 at the Honda Dealer. Does that sound good? I am getting a new clutch, flywheel, bearing, pressure plate. I just hope that they dont drive it after they fix it.

When they took apart the clutch there were bad hot spots on the fly wheel. And i would rather pay to have that done now instead of paying for a tear down again when/if the flywheel goes.

But yours should be fine with a mild turning. Mine had 75k hard miles...maybe 500 autox runs...track days, etc. It was in decent shape. Had normal hot spots, but nothing that couldn't be turned.

If you buy the parts from hardtopguy.com, it's $915 for: stock friction disc, upgraded ACT pressure plate, stock bearings, and stock flywheel. $900 labor sounds high even for a dealer.

If you really want a new one...have them give you your old flywheel and offer it up to anybody with an ap2 who is doing a clutch job. AP1 flywheels are a good mod for ap2s since they are a few lbs lighter.

I just got my clutch done at a local shop that I trust. I ordered everything from HTG oem friction disc, pressure plate, throwout bearing, pilot bearing, synchromesh fluid for around $517. The local shop charged me $180 for the clutch job and $40 to turn the flywheel. Another $40 to bleed the brakes and $40 to bleed the clutch master cylinder. Total was $300 and car runs great! You should shop around before you decide. I got a quote from another place which was $500 just for the clutch job! Dropped my car off and picked it up the very next day!

I think my recent clutch job ran me something like 1200-1400 for ACT Heavy Duty street clutch, swapped my AP2 flywheel for an AP1 flywheel (just had to pay resurfacing cost ) and new bearings and ACT pressure plate + 8hrs labor. Done at Science of Speed.
