Clutch fluid, DOT3 or DOT 4 ?
My question is DOT3 or DOT4 ?
I am in TEXAS, summer days are like 100F every day. I just replaced my master clutch cylinder and slave cylinder, bleed the system with some Super-Tech DOT-3. The car runs like crap during the day but runs good in the evening when the temperature is cooler.
I think my clutch fluid is boiling ????
Also my clutch feels very stiff.. Is AP1 clutch stiffer than AP2 ??

Hmm.. sorry to revive a zombie thread, but does anyone have an opinion on this? For brake, i'll most definitely use DOT4, but is the clutch fluid worth the extra money for DOT4? (yeah i know extra like $5). I was just gona use the remainder of the ATE can I bought, but my helper forgot to keep the brake fluid tank full, so we ended up wasting a crap load. Now I have to buy a new brake fluid for clutch
Your clutch fluid is not boiling. It takes like 400 F to boil brake fluid. It ain't that hot even in TX.
DOT 3 fluid in the clutch is more than adequate. I use the same WalMart Prestone DOT 4 in both brakes and clutch, but that is just so I don't have to have another bottle laying around.
Quality of fluid is not an issue for clutch. It being fresh fluid, and no air in the lines, that is vital.
Change clutch fluid in MC twice a year (syringe out the old, paper towel clean resevoir, add fresh fluid). Gravity bleed it at least as often as you change brake fluid, as well as when you have shifting issues.

i used RBF600 DOT 4 in my clutch and brake. my fluid was dirty as hell. my brake fluid was deff boiling on aggressive driving and braking. now that i have rbf600 i havent had any problems yet. (motul rbf 600)
Excellent recommendations. Thanks.
