Default Clutch fork install

Just finished an engine swap, but I had no clutch fork, I installed the engine after reading Here that you can remove the clutch fork tranny in place, and now for the life of me , I cant get the clutch fork in.... Tips tricks anyone? I've even tried turning the engine a bit. I really don't want to pull off the transmission....

As far as I know you CANNOT remove or install the clutch fork with the transmission mounted to the engine.

Pull the trans.

I have seen one case where a guy forced it in there, and broke the transmission case.

You don't have to pull the trans off all the way - crack the trans open, dont remove all the way or its a PITA to line up. It'll fit - dont force it, just wiggle it around until it fits nicely. I forgot to insert the clutch fork before lining up the trans/slapping it together.

you have to separate the trans from the engine to get the fork in, make sure the fork is facing the correct direction.

Pull the trans. You will just cause yourself more issues down the road. Not to mention its hard to grease it w/o pulling the trans as well.

Billman & Slows2k say it, you do it!

the fork can be pulled out of it's holder and reinserted without issue , that's the only way to get it on the release bearing when installing the tranny. Your experience is normal.
