Default Clutch , how far does your pedal need to go down?

Basically, I have to have my pedal pushed in right to the floor when I shift or else I can feel a faint bit of bite on the syncros as I change gears. I dont like this. I have not owned my car long enough to get to know it well for faster shifting... BUT this leaves no room for error.

How far down does your foot have to be before you can shift 100% smoothly?

Will this thread help me? It seems that all of searching indicates this is only useful for clutches catching to EARLY.

Thanks

My clutch engages pretty high in the pedal travel, and that's pretty normal for this car.

If yours has recently changed to engaging low, it can indicate a problem with the clutch master cylinder. I know mine moved a lot lower when the seals started leaking, and the master cylinder needed to be replaced. Or, you could just have some air in the system, try bleeding the clutch and see if it changes at all.

try bleeding your clutch fluid, and check around where the pedal connects to the fire wall to see if any fluid is leaking into the interior. either your clutch line has air in it or your clutch master cylinder is on its way out. you shouldnt have to push your clutch in but a few inches maybe 4-6 before it engages

That is the norm, but he's indicating that his clutch engages low, and might not be fully disengaged, even with the pedal on the floor.

My clutch engagement point began to be very low recently (like an inch off the floor). Went on a drive with some other S2000 members this past weekend and my clutch began sticking to the floorboard. I was having to kick the clutch up with my foot to shift.

Lines were bled and fluid topped off - engagement point is back near the top (assuming the normal spot).

ConeKiller, that sounds like the seals on your master cylinder are going. Check for fluid in the footwell, I think you'll find that's why you were low.

^^^ I'm thinking you need to bleed your clutch line.

No fluid in the interior under the clutch

Anyone want to direct me to a DIY for bleeding a clutch line?
