Clutch Issues
Hey guys, I just purchased an ACT clutch kit, I just had taken it to the mechanic to install and now theirs some problems going on.
When you step on the pedal theirs a large amount of free play and the bottom 2-3 inches you can start to feel the clutch engage. Now, when in the air when you shift the car in gear with the pedal pushed you can see the car move to 5mph. Now when it's on the ground you can't shift the car because it's resisting. I think theirs some issue with the clutch not fully disengaging with the flywheel. Could it be some issue with air in the system after its been bled? or does it just need some pedal adjustment?
Any ideas to help me out? Any help would be most appreciated. thank you!

I'd change your mechanic if he can't solve a simple problem like this...it's not rocket science.
Does the clutch start to bite (when releasing the pedal) near the floor, or near the top of the pedal's travel?
Sounds like air/sticky or leaky slave cylinder/sticky fork. Assuming you didn't have this problem before, I'd say air. Gravity bleeding is the best way.
The FAQ has a good write-up.

When I had my ACT kit (HD pressure plate, Street Disc, lightweight flywheel) first installed it engaged close to the bottom of the stroke (near the floor). But never had issues with shifting or disengaging.
During break in it slowly adjusted itself back to where it was when it was stock, which was about 3/4 of the way up. Took 500-750 miles of commuting to work (about 7 miles of highway cruising + 6 miles stop/go).
Maybe adjust your pedal just a little bit, just enough so that you can disengage properly, then let it "settle" in during the break-in period and see if it ends up in a position you like.
Just an idea.

hello, i had a act clutch put in at 10,000 miles it would not release, my clutch has allways released high and thats where it allways been seen new, but the act would not release removed and put in new factory parts and it worked fine, wish i could have adjusted the act clutch
Thanks for your advice guys
But I guess my mechanic talked to the guys at ACT and they did decide it was a defective clutch. So hopefully everything ends well and i can get back in my car
also, GoTuning has been helpful and a great company to cooperate with, thanks guys
