Thumbs up Clutch kit ordered, do I need anything else?

My new clutch kit is on the way and comes with the following:

ACT Heavy Duty pressure plate
OEM friction disc
Pilot bearing
Throwout bearing
Alignment tool

Do I need to buy anything else for the installer?
Any advice on having it installed, or is it a no-brainer for an experienced tech?
I've been quoted $400 for install fee, is that reasonable?

I just don't want $485 worth of parts blown down the crapper!

Thanks,

Thomp

1. The tech will have to drop the engine sub frame 3" (pre the helms manual) to get to the upper two bolts.
2. There is also a bolt for the started (if I remember correctly) that you have to get blind.
3. This is harder then most because of the way it is put together and the small size of the car. It is booked at 5 hours, and if it is his first time on the S, it will take him more.

Personally, I would replace the Fly wheel. If you need a new clutch, I bet your flywheel is looking pretty rough. Most aftermarket flywheels come with the piolit bearing installed. CompTech does and that is what I had installed.

I picked up the car, an MY01, when it had 28k miles and it has 39k now, about 15 months later. I autocross about 1 weekend per month. The pedal engagement was very high when I got the car, so I'm guessing the clutch was hosed before I got it. I'm in Central Florida so no salt or snow.

Thanks for the info!

If it were me, I'd go for the Comptech lightweight flywheel. However, you might be able to get away with just machining the existing one. You won't know till the tranny is off and the tech inspects it.

I've talked to the tech, who races a very modded civic, and he thinks resurfacing the flywheel will work. Worst case scenario, it will not and I have to purchase a new one, but I'm going to see how the old one looks first.

since you are in there putting stuff in, i would go ahead and put in a lightweight one.

Only problem with a lightweight one is that it will knock me out of Stock class when autocrossing. However, if the flywheel is hosed and cannot be resurfaced, I will be buying a lightweight one anyway. I'm keeping my fingers crossed about having the stock one resurfaced.

Anything mod'ed on your car will take you out of stock class (SCCA?) ? Intakes, brakes? exausts? How about just some slotted rotors? I'm reading through the manual but it's really, really big.
