Clutch pedal construction
I want to extend my clutch pedal an inch or two so I can drive with the seat comfortably back. On my Miata, I used a clutch Pedal-mate (http://www.creativecontrolsinc.com/...nders/index.htm) with great success. When I went to install the unit on my '05 S2K, I discovered 2 cylindrical metal "bumps" (for lack of a better term...) on the back side of the clutch pedal. Anyone know what these are, and if they are likely to be damaged if they are sandwiched between the bolted-together parts of the extender? A site search produced only SIIK2NR's tongue-in-cheek alternative to the extender -- a strapped-on wooden block... Thanks for any help.
Hehe, I like the "child's tricycle, wood block" mod.
I think those "bumps" on the back side may have something to do with acting as a contact point for the pedal at its extreme travel. Anything you bolt onto the pedal should not alter this "stop point" or the pedal will not be able to be fully depressed. There are some examples of people who have installed aftermarket (read "fancy") pedal pads onto this clutch. They are not quite the "sandwich" idea you have in mind, but it seems to me that this can be done. Just ensure you take note of my previous caution about the stop point.

Anything that restricts the full travel of the clutch will ruin the transmission. I've had customers that used a stopper on the backside of the pedal, so it just goes past the dis-engagement point.
Now their trannys are junk. One won't shift at all, the other grinds 1, 3, and 5.
I can't see your link, so I'm not sure what you intend to do.

Got it fitted this afternoon. Only the flat part of the pedal is sandwiched, not the "bumps". The pedal arm still reaches the bumper on the firewall. Had a successful short road test. I can now put the seat a bit further back so my right leg isn't cocked, and arms can be extended to achieve something like what used to be called the "Italian" style of driving... The further-back seat position also lets me enter without always bumping my head on the top. Thanks again for the advice.
