Clutch Pedal Height 7.44"?
The service manual shows how the clutch pedal height is measured on a perpendicular to the tangent of the arc of the clutch pedal to the floor.
My car would ever so slightly rock backward when put into 2nd from neutral when preparing to backout from garage (habit of going into 2nd before reverse when I had trouble getting into reverse).
I noticed the pedal height was very much lower than the spec and with the pedal adjusted to the max just below the height the stop bracket holding the cruise control(?) sensor button would allow, the height is STILL lower than spec, but that rocking motion was not detected this morning.
It might be that part of the grinding issues and other transmission/shifting problems I have had might have been due in part to less than ideally disengaging clutch, especially since my old master cylinder was leaking.

If you do a search on "clutch pedal adjustment" you should find quite a bit of discussion on it. I cut my 2nd gear grinds down significantly by adjusting my pedal. I wound up raising the clutch switch (bump stop) all the way, then extending the length of the master cylinder push rod to the point that there was only a tiny amount of play before you could feel the master cylinder reacting. It was a little awekward to drive at first, and I eventually adjusted it back to a more normal behavior. My clutch pedal is now at the same height as my brake pedal, and there is maybe 1/4" of play.

Good point! I left enough play in the pedal that you have to push it in about 1/4 " before you can feel the pushrod engaging the master cylinder. When I got the car, I had more like 2 full inches before the pedal felt like it was doing anything.

The way I removed the play was by extending the pushrod to raise the pedal height, then extending the bump stop (clutch switch) to push the pedal back down a bit. Basically you are removing the play within the master cylinder.
