Default Clutch pedal loses pressure from time to time.

Hello, I hope that I put this in the right section. Starting the other day my clutch pedal would lose pressure on and off (pedal felt softer and spongier) and the engagement point would be lower than usual. I checked the reservoir for the master cylinder and it was really low so I recently added more brake fluid to it. I test drove it a couple times and it seems to work alright for now (pressure/engagement point back to normal)

what concerns me is that the fluid in the reservoir was a cloudy black color and when I took a look under the dash and saw that the master cylinder was leaking a tiny bit where it connects to the firewall (maybe a few drops on the carpet) Is it time to replace the master cylinder? Should I completely bleed the whole thing?

On a side note I bought the car at 40,000 miles and is currently at 75,000 miles, during that time I have never bled/replaced the fluid for the slave/master cylinders.

Any advice concerning this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Default

Master cylinder for sure. Change it and bleed your whole system. Use dot 4 brake fluid.
