I've got a MY 2000 and I've just recently noticed a fair amount of play in the clutch pedal at the top of it's travel range. I've had the car since new, and don't remember there being that much play in the pedal before (but it's possible I never noticed it before). I'm not experiencing any clutch slippage, but take-up is fairly low in the pedal range (close to floorboard). I only have ~16,000 miles on the car, and wouldn't think I'd need a new clutch at this point.

So, do I have an anomaly here or is this fairly common? Any feedback will be appreciated.

 

If you do a search for "clutch pedal adjustment", you should find several threads that talk about how to remove the play. It is easy to do.
