Default Clutch pressure loss

I have a 2000 ap1 with an ACT street performance clutch that I had installed last year. Now roughly 15k mi and 2-3 auto crosses later (last one was over a month ago) and I am having some issues with it.

I was backing away from my pump to leave a gas station when I pressed the clutch pedal inward and it felt like it lost most of its pressure. It basically feels like my stock clutch did as far as pedal feel/pressure with the quick engagement point of the ACT. Now the car drives fine but the clutch feels really weird and I cant figure out why it would happen all of the sudden like that versus slowly over time.

I looked and I brought it to my shop to look at the Hydraulics of the system and everything is fine with those. Master cylinder was installed about a month ago and the fluid was clean and still at the same level. No leaks from the slave either.

I really don't want to spend the money right now to go on a wild goose chase if I do not need to. If its drivable then I'll have to deal with it for a bit, but if this is serious or leading to a failure then grab my ankles I must (even though I just did this work less than a year ago and the car sat for 5 of those months )

Anyone have this happen before? What did I break????

Cheers and happy 4th of July weekend!

-Phil

My AP1 has a stock clutch in it and whenever its warmed up, at times it almost doesnt even feel as if my clutch has pressure. It freaks me out and to be honest i should get it checked out like you did to see if theres any failure in the system.

Hope you find a solution to your problem.

At 95k miles, I thought the clutch was shot, but it turned out to be a worn out hydraulic cylinder.

check master clutch pump cylinder and the slave cylinder (if applicable). Sounds like that's your issue. Sometimes it doesn't even show at all when it's all cold but becomes a problem when its heated up.

My clutch masters did that...I ended up changing it out to a ACT street disc and PP....problem went away BUT it could have been the slave cylinder being re-bled after the install

so in a starter spot to check...slave cylinder? re-bleed the system?

The master is new so I hope it wasn't that.

I bled the system and adjusted the engagement point down a little bit. I talked to ACT and it turns out that there is a possibility that if the engagement point is too high that when I am pressing the pedal I can press fluid back into the reservoir.

Car drives fine now. We will see for how long though, that will be the determining factor on the health of the hydraulic system. If it needs to be bled once a month then something is wrong!

Thanks for the responses!
