Clutch + Pressure Plate Recommendations?
Hey guys,
I destroyed my stock clutch last week and it has been shady ever since.
I was wondering what set-up your guys use or could recommend.
I think the stock pressure plate and clutch disc are too fragile, so I want a kit that is not too expensive (e.g. Exedy Hyper - $1200), but is very durable and barely streetable

Although there's a lot of talk about how the stock clutch is weak on the S2000, I could be wrong but I sometimes wonder if it was made that way by design to save the rear diff.

Don't know if you've driven an unsprung 4 puck, but it's going to take a little bit of driveability out of your car. If you think your up to it, then have fun. I've dealt with a year driving 4 puck w/ act extreme plate on the street; some guy convinced me it was a good idea. It had a lot of bite, but I broke two engine mounts and a tranny mount within that year.
Suggestion: Get a sprung 6 puck or a hybrid full face. You'll get more pressure. S2000 doesn't put out enough power to even require a 6 puck though. You'll probably break other stuff before you reach the limit of the clutch.

i use star stage 2 carbon- kevlar clutch/ star light weight pressure plate/ spoon flywheel combo.
this clutch bites and grips.
i tend to push my car quite often, and for that reason i am happy with the set up.
ask 4-ig...

find out what you're going to use the car for Ray then go from there. For daily use, just get a modified stock PP (spoon, mugen, act) and run a stock disc. No need for anything else if car is a daily driver. If you have your mind on auto-x or track stuff, the same package will work as well, still no need for anything bigger or stronger if you're on stock power. The trick to faster times at the track or auto-x isn't related to clutch or shifting but car control.
