Problem solved!!!!!!
As XVIPER said I needed to bleed out the system. I used my new Mity Vac and wiped out the master cylinder at the same time.
The results were impressive. The clutch now releases in a normal manner. I sat in my drive way and went back and forth while letting the clutch get a real work out. No smell and perfect clutch.
Thanks to every one that responded. I am totaly relieved.

Geez! You make it sound like we live in igloos or something.
If you come up here, we'll go toss a few, eh?

One additional issue. The dealer I had it serviced in is and always has been the sorriest, most crooked dealer any where. I could write a book on personal issues and those of friends.
The first thing I noticed wrong when it came back from the clutch replacement was that the carpet on the tranny hump was sticking out and touching the seats. They had not put some of the clips back in.
When I bled the clutch I could not help but notice that a bolt that holds the header to the side of the tranny was missing. I have driven and raced Hondas since 74 and had extra clips and bolts.

I should thank these guys because when they tried 4-5 times to fix my first Civic I decided that it was pointless to pay some idiot to fix my car. I never tried to fix any thing prior to this event. I discovered that the carb was sucking air through a gasket and fixed it. I just felt like as long as the guy that fixes the car is cluless, it might as well be me. Now I fix every thing that is not under warranty.

IF any one wants to hear some great, unbelievable stories about this dealer just ask.

Thanks again every one.

Now form whatI have read and from what I hear the S2000s are notorious for having weak clutches. That may be your problem.

VTECS2000, they may very well have weak clutches but it seems that this problem was dealer induced and not the fault of a weak clutch.

There have also been many reports of clutches on this car that have lasted to 40K, 50K, even 60K miles. Even one report of a S/C'd car still going around 50K miles, with the previous 20K or so with the blower. Mine has over 20K miles, with the last couple thousand blown. My clutch is still working fine.
These things you hear and read come from those who bought the car and drive it in certain ways and this applies not only to the S but to other high performance cars as well. You'll hear cases like this with Viper owners who burn through their clutches in a matter a few thousand miles. That's just the nature of these kinds of cars and some of the people who own them.
We don't often hear of the thousands of S owners who go tens of thousands of miles on the original clutch because this doesn't make for good press. Why talk about it because it's not unusual enough to bother. BUT, burn up a clutch in 6000 miles and we have ASTONISHMENT!
