Clutch replacement cost arm and legs.
Just my weird dream:
Wonder why they can't invent a clutch unit that can easily be accessable ?
Or some compact clutch unit not like the traditional puck style.
I will settle if they can also invent a bell housing with a big opening underneath. Unscrew the cover replace the bad clutch unit and done!
People are so scared if they hear the clutch is going. The reason? the location and accessability issue. Big BUCKS per say!!
Am I smoking or something?

The clutch in a 308 Ferrari can be replaced without pulling the trans.
Most motorcycle clutches can be too.

Auto manufacturer should re-invent the ease installation. The car cost, taxes, and running & maintaining is a big burden.
Muscle car community will still be sitting in their washing machine if no one invented the Vtec huh?

There were clutch disks you could swap by segment and those segments could be taken out through a small gap between the bell housing/engine and gearbox.
If your FW or PP is out then you still have a problem.
During the Paris-Dakar rally last year there was a car (don't know what make, could be Bowler WildCat or Mitsubishi) that had the clutch on the end of the gearbox, like on a motorcycle.
Complete swap (in the desert with limited tools I guess) in half an hour.
Complete = IIRC FW(*) & PP & disk.
Allthough the FW isn't a true flywheel because it isn't bolted to the crankshaft.
But it could still have flywheel energie
For track S2k's one could have 2 engine & gearbox setup's.
#1 - Drive car on ramp.
#2 - Unbolt engine & gearbox.
#3 - Lift car.
#4 - Remove engine & gearbox.
#5 - Roll in new engine & gearbox.
#6 - Lower car.
#7 - Connect it all.
#8 - Drive away for second race.
1 1/2 hours tops

194K miles and I'm still on the stock clutch in my Accord. I guess it's not a priority for them to make it easily accessible because it's a relatively low-touch part.

I guess it's not a priority for them to make it easily accessible because it's a great source of service income for dealers.

I wouldn't call clutch replacement a big $$ maker for a dealer. You'll be hard pressed to find a dealer tech that can replace a S2k clutch quickly.
Audi R8's can swap the entire transaxle/rear suspension in 10 minutes. It just designed that way.
The conventional clutch location works well for packaging. As long as an Asshat isn't behind the clutch pedal the clutches last well outside the 3yr/36K and many more.
If you want to make the clutch easier to change, get to practicing pulling the trans on your car.
