Default Clutch shot?

Hi, I have a 2002 with 102K miles on it and just recently I noticed that the clutch doesn't engage until the pedal is about 75% or more out. It was not anywhere close to this about 6 months ago. Does this mean I need a new clutch?

If so, what brand of clutch kit would you recommend for high quality and longevity?

Thanks!!

Cruise in 3rd at like 30ish MPH.

Floor it.

Does it slip?

If you need to replace it, buy a clutch from a Honda dealer. Pretty much nothing else will work.

doesn't slip, but isn't the very late engagement mean the clutch plate is very worn and close needing replacement?

is there any adjustment that can move the engagement closer to the floorboard?

When was the last time you replaced the clutch fluid?

About a month ago I noticed that my clutch pedal had gotten significantly softer and the engagement point was considerably closer to the floor than it was (let's say 2 months ago). I thought I was having a clutch go out and was preparing for the worst. I found a thread on here (sorry I don't have a link) that described the same type of issue with similar symptoms. It was recommended that he shoukd try replacing the clutch fluid first using a gravity bleed method (there is a DIY on it), as it is much cheaper and less labor intensive as replacing an entire clutch.

Long story short, I replaced the clutch fluid using the DIY on the forums and sure enough. It worked like a charm. Clutch is much stiffer now, pretty much back to when the day I bought it, and engagement point came right back to the top.

Would recommend trying that just as a precaution if you haven't already.

75% away from the floor, or 75% into the floor?

Also, there's also this:

Full engagement should occur closer to the top of the travel. Its a sports car.

Hydraulic clutches are also self adjusting for wear.

If its not slipping, I would leave it alone.

I just installed a brand new clutch a couple months ago. With the rod adjusted for only the tiniest amount of free-play the pedal engages closer to the top of its travel.

Your clutch is fine.
