I just got an S2000 (67,000 Miles) AP1.

Car drives fine, but when I am in first or reverse or anytime going slowly letting off the clutch, it makes quite a bit of noise, and kind of shakes.

I don't think I need a whole new clutch as it is not slipping at all.
Checked to see if there was fluid behind the clutch pedal as that seems to be a common problem.

Also, how often should I change the clutch, tranny and diff fluid?

 

This sounds a lot like the noise one of my torn engine mounts made any time the RPM would drop below ~900rpm. I would check to see if either of them is leaking fluid.

 

hmm, thought that at first too, and had the mechanic check and he said they look fine. I can double-check though.

I know one is on top, and I would deff see if the fluid is leaking. DO I have to get under the car to see the second.

 

To thoroughly check the mounts, go from underneath and get up close and personal with them.

If its clutch chatter you're hearing...then, yes, you would need to drop the trans, resurface the flywheel/PP and buy a new disc and bearings (or a whole new OEM Honda clutch set).

Clutch fluid should be flushed every 2 years (along with brake fluid).

Trans fluid every 15-30K miles depending on use. More often if you're tracking the car.

It seems like a clutch is about 1,500 with the install. Mounts seem to be around $150 per mount + labor (not sure how long it takes).

 

Seems while I am doing some of these things, at 68,000, I should do a valve adjustment. Is it really that critical to do at even 68,000 miles?

 

Why not especially if the beast is jacked up for the transmission drain/fill? Get some proper crush washers, aluminum and copper for the fill. You can also order a drain magnetic plug and use it for the fill side. That way the same socket is used and you add a magnet.

 

Diff fluid every 15-30K works for me...same interval as the trans.

Again..this assumes that you're not tracking it.

I guess it would be wise to have the following changed consider it's never been done.

Brake
Clutch
Tranny
Diff.

So I have tried studying the noise a bit, and it will happen when at a stoplight in neutral with no foot on the pedal. So does that mean it is for sure NOT clutch or not necessarily??

Trying to avoid a clutch if at all possible as that would suck to spend $1500 and find out it did not fix it.

Also, I assume the clutch kit from Honda comes with:-Pressure Plate

-Clutch Plate with Disc

-Throwout bearing

-pilot bearing

Are there metal shavings in your oil?

The video doesn't sound like a clutch issue. If the oil is clean, my guess would be broken mounts allowing something to rattle against something else.
