Default Coil Pack Clips

I just had my new mechanic do a valve adjustment for me. He called and said that the previous service (MY HONDA DEALER!) glued the clips to the coil pack. Apparently, they broke the clips and didn't tell me about it.

I tried to find pictures of the part involved, but no luck so far. What do I have to do to fix this? Do I have to replace the entire engine wiring harness?

This is one of many bad experiences with my local Honda Dealer service department (Phil Hughes Honda). Fortunately, I have found an independent mechanic that is Honda Certified and he really knows what he is doing. Should I contact Honda and see if they will make this right?

Thanks,

Jim

Is there really any question? Why would you not at least try?

I don't mean the dealer. They have screwed me before and done nothing to make it right. I am suggesting contacting Honda USA customer service. I am going to call them tomorrow. But, If past experience is to hold, they will do nothing.

do what you can in terms of customer service.

It isn't always the fault of the mechanic as broken clips do occur on these cars, they get brittle over time and we've seen a few posts on this. It sucks that they didn't say anything when they broke. They shouldn't have used a strong glue on them, a silicon sealant would have been reasonable and still removable, most people just zip tie them tight. Good luck with things.

We all know that the dealer sucks but how are you so sure that the dealer broke the clips and not your mechanic?

Also, are all clips broken? I would think only 1 is. If I were dumb enough to break a clip I would probably be more carefull not to break the other 3 and try to hide my ineptness by gluing the one I broke.

I know the dealer did it because the mechanic called me to ask me what kind of glue I used. He thought I had done it. He wanted to know if it was a weak glue. My blood pressure went up as usual as I informed him that Phil Hughes Honda had done it.

BTW..they broke 2 of them.

easy fix.

find someone with a parts harness, just extract the individual pins and replace the connectors. No cutting or splicing necessary.
