Default S2000 won't start when it's cold

I've been having a problem for the last few days. When I put the keys in, all the accessories come on and the fuel pump comes on, but when I hit the start button, nothing happens. No noise, no attempt to crank, nothing. I don't even think I hear the solenoid clicking, not sure though b/c the stereo comes on. But after a couple presses, the car cranks up fine and everything is fine.

What could be the problem? Battery going bad? Starter? Solenoid?

Make sure the clutch pedal switch is not sticking.

It's not, I'm leaving it depressed while I continue to try to start it. Third time is always a charm.

I realize you are depressing the pedal. What I am suggesting is that the switch itself is not returning to the unloaded position. When the pedal is depressed, the switch is free and the internal spring returns it to position. If the switch is stuck, it may take it a while to move to this position.

Hmm good point. I will check it out. Why would that only happen when it's cold?

Cold temps make metal shrink and possibly the lubricant on the switch get thicker which may cause it to stick. I doubt its the battery or the starter if it cranks fine 3rd try.

Next time you start it try turning the key to on and pushing down on the clutch. Hold the clutch for 20seconds before pushing the start button.

If it starts first try, then the switch probably is sticking
