Competition Clutch Problem
alright well i decided it was time for my clutch to be changed after it began slipping. i went with a Competition Stage 4 6-puck because i was going boost. i also changed flywheel cuz it was about due. finished the job yesterday. all good and then i turn the car on. no noises but then it wouldnt go in gear. bled the slave. nothing. put it in first, turned the car on and it began rolling. even moving your pinky toe off the clutch would apply too much force. called a friend who has the same set up. problem is, he used his old flywheel. this is where i am getting to. i decided to pull it out today and there are spots on the flywheel and everything. i read up and came across the 2nd to last post here:

its making sense. the clutch plate was not seperating completely from my flywheel. was wondering if anyone had this problem. at this point i am returning the clutch and looking into exedy. or if i cannot get my money back. was thinking of shaving the new flywheel to reanact maybe 40k-60k miles. its ridiculous but my friend just recently had a problem with competition aswell n its been 2.5 weeks they have had his clutch for inspection. if anyone has any feedback on this let me know.

damn! Finally I see whats going on in my car. I have a built sleeved turbo civic with 450 whp that I used to daily. One day, out of the blue, it becomes very very hard to change gears, and it would take a lot of pedal travel to get it to even let go of the clutch. I replaced the master and slave cylinders on it, and they didn't help. I know it's on the clutch because when it grabs, it holds all 320 lbs and 450 hp, but it just doesn't want to let go so that I change gears.
I guess I'm going exedy next.
I bought a s2000 to replace my civic as a daily, and who would have thought that it was going to be the s2000 (reason being in s2ki) that would solve my problem with the civic. Is it a sign?

I had the same problem on my 06 with the cc stage 4 and 11lb flywheel. I actually spoke to an engineer at cc and he said that this was normal for my stage 4. All I had to do was adjust the rod on the master cyl making it slightly longer so as to gain a little more travel on the slave cyl. After about 100 miles of break in I was able to shorten the rod back to where it was with the stock clutch. Make sure you have the clutch bled properly. be careful not to adjust the rod too much or the master cyl will not completely release the fluid pressure and will slowly pump up and cause the clutch to start slipping. I have had excellent service from my comp clutch and flywheel and would recommend them to anyone. good luck with yours
well i spoke with the shop i bought it from aswell as friends and and dan from competition clutch. it makes sense but only to a certain extent. Since i had 90k on the flywheel and this was the 2nd clutch change, my pedal has been adjusted to compensate for the lost metal. so when i replaced it all, the pedal was speced to something with almost no meat. still calling bull**** on it but w.e so i decided to shave my flywheel down JUST IN CASE so i can take a bit off. hopefully this with adjusting the pedal will definetly solve it. ill keep posting on how its going because if it continues. its definetly a manufacture defect.

Be careful I read somewhere that someone got their clutch done and they forgot to adjust the pedal and blew up the tranny...
im sure alot of people have changed clutches and flywheels and havent adjusted the pedal and trannys didnt blow up....
lol, i doubt anything is wrong with the clutch/flywheel. bleed it again, adjust the slave pushrod, and i bet its fine. you dont need to shave the damn flywheel. thats just nonsense right there. my buddy had this exact setup in his s2k and had none of these problems.
3 reasons you are having problems.
improper install
improper adjustment on the slave pushrod
improper bleed

Wow I didn't know there were that many bad stories out there for comp clutches. Mine went perfectly smooth since the moment I started driving and no issue to this day. I believe about 20K miles on it so far.. It has seen two road racing track days, a drift event and DD the car. Guess I am of the lucky ones.. GL with whatever you go with after this.
