With the switch on VDC, black lead on the negative battery terminal and red lead on the positive, I didn't believe it myself. Yes, 279.5. I think either that I have the wrong setting on the meter or something is way out of whack.

How to pop the cover to the under dash fuse panel? I seem to be missing a clip to turn, and the bottom seems to pull out a bit, but the clips are not popping out.

No advice on taking off that panel? I cannot get it to pull out more that an inch or so. I'd like to check out the fuses in there, just in case. I tried to hook up a jumper battery and the alarm went off.

Stupid me. Here I am yanking on that panel and the fuse were right above. That is a very tight working situation. I will try to get to those fuses in the morning. The 15A alternator fuse up front is fine.

Likely the reading is in millivolts, mV on the meter?

Tried slaving this to another running vehicle?

0.279vDC maybe? What scale do you have the DC voltage set? Set for 20 (twenty) on this $6 Harbor Freight meter. Others are very similar. Check your meter on your other car.

Using the right sockets on the meter? There is commonly a high amp socket. Use the bottom pair. The top is the high amp and rarely used.

Fully charged battery should measure 12.6-12.7v after charging 24 hours and sitting another 24 hours with no draw on the battery. Surface charge will read that within minutes even on a dead battery.

Did this happen out of the blue? Meaning, it was working fine when you shut it down and then when you tried to start zero power to anything? Or, were you working on something?

Yes, it was out of the blue. Last time I drove it, I parked it in the garage at home. It sat for a week, maybe two. I tried to drive it to work on Friday, but it wouldn't start and I got no dash lights.

I've tried the three different holes on the meter just a minute or so ago. I will try to post a picture of the meter when I get a chance. We have afternoon and evening plans, so I'll have to leave any more digging around to another day. I'm glad that my S is not an only car right now, but my DD is an old Odyssey that is going to need a transmission one of these days.

I would try to jump start it or push start it...2 very easy things to do without relying on tools
