Default Compression numbers

Hey y’all. Wanted to get your opinions on these numbers. Just got the results of a PPI done on 2000my with 52k miles.

compression test. cylinder 1 at 158 psi, cylinder 2 at 153 psi, cylinder 3 at 150 psi, cylinder 4 at 160 psi.

Mechanic said he tested with the engine warm and full open throttle. I’ve read that we want them to be within 10% of each other and above 135 psi, which this is. I also see people saying their numbers are above 200 psi.

What are y’all’s thoughts on these numbers? Should you lose almost a third of the compression on a 25 year old example with 52k miles? Thanks!

Good numbers
dont worry about how low they show 10% rule is fine <above 135>

Harbor Freight and AutoStore compression gauges aren't laboratory instruments. Nor is the skill measuring pressure the same across the wide variety of people skills. Difference between cylinders looks fine here.

Are you following the procedure on page 6-7 of the Service Manual? It's rather specific.

Not sure how deep you want to dig but I'd do a valve adjustment and note what the clearances were before adjustments. Something that's recommended on any new-to-you car regardless.

Thanks Chuck. I’m not sure if the guy performing the PPI followed the service manual. The more research Ive done the better I feel that the numbers are within an acceptable range of each other.

if I buy the car I do plan to check the clearances.

Leak down test done? Often done during the compression check.
