deffinately seems low. mine were close to 210 with a 3mm headgasket. i would imagine stock it would be atleast 230-240. There is also way too much variation between all the cylinders. the closer they are together the better it is.i would pass on it for sure.
210 with a 3MM, wow you have a healthy motor

it doesn't really compares this way

the number varies depends on the temperture, plugs are out or not, battery, number of cranks, max number vs fix number, brand of gauge, etc

you can't compare a 7 cranks compression gauge from snap on vs a max number number with all plugs out from a craftsman.

I got 215 all four cylinder for a 06(when it was after broken in) with a fixed number of crank, so in short, comparing number means nothing(unless you have something really low or high), the factor of compression test is the percentage of cylinder variations.

Update

Just got off the phone with my salesman. After 2 days of me saying I wasn't going to buy the thing without further testing (a leakdown test), and them saying they don't think there is anything wrong with the engine, and they stand by their merchandise, blah, blah, blah...

They finally decided they wanted to make the sale, so they agreed to pay for a leakdown. What do they find?? Cylinder #2's exhaust valve was definately damaged.

Damn, I hate being right all the time

Was funny though because I got to say "I told you so" to the salesman.

They're probably not gonna fix it. They'll probably just try to pawn it off onto someone else who doesn't ask to have the engine checked. So stay away from a yellow S2000 at Leith Euro in Raleigh NC.

Also, if anyone knows where I can find an 04-05 Rio with a good engine, hook a brother up

well...leakdown didn't reveal anything more than the compression test did.
