Default Compression test came back... What do ya think?

So I'm looking at an 02 with 66k on it. I had a compression test done and the Honda dealer looked it over and drove it. He said the transmissions good, duffs good clutch is good and the compression test came back 220 for cylinders 1, 2 and 3 and 4 was 215. Is this a good thing? That cylinder 4 is down 5? I was told that even numbers with no more than 10 psi dif in each cylinder but I've heard some bad things about cylinder 4. Other than that the tech said it will née front pads soon and that's all.

Those sound good. A 5 psi difference is nothing to worry about.

Yep, a little bit of variance is no big deal. My comp test was 230/235/230/230.

Nah, every gauge reads differently. The most important thing is that the numbers are consistent within a few percent across the board.

220 psi is low. Too low, if the test was done right. Impossible to tell without checking the tester (both equipment and person) against a reference.

A 5 psi difference is nothing to worry about, but @ 220psi I've found bent or badly pitted valves and/or scoring of the bores.

I would see if you can have an independent shop check it out. They shouldn't charge more than $50 to look the car over and do a comp. test, and the dealer should be willing in order to make the sale.

Really? I thought anything above 200 psi was good considering the variance of readings between different gauges?

^^ researching comp. tests, it doesnt matter if you have 100 psi across the board, as long as there isnt a 20-30 psi difference between cylinders your fine.

The amount of psi on the guage is determined on how many times you crank the engine.

thats what i gathered through my searches.
