Default Compression test results.

Hey all,

So I found a good deal on a 2005 engine swap. The seller seems legit and answered my many questions well. The car currently has a compression of 240, 230, 215, 220. Test was done cold. The 25 difference is slightly concerning, thoughts. I would think it would be closer with a warm engine. Also can you use an AP1 timing chain tensioner be used with and 2005 AP2 engine?

You can have up to 10% variance in compression over ideal values and be fine. So if ideal cylinder compression is 220psi you can be +/- 22 psi and be ok. Ideally the leakdown will tell you more than a compression test will. You don't even need a leakdown tester just a good set of ears.

For the tensioners, do yourself a favor and buy one from Billman here - it will last longer and be more reliable.
