Default Comptech CAI??

Well our car should be here in a couple of weeks and I was wondering if anyone had heard the latest news on the Comptech CAI or if anyone had some pics available?? I heard that it has some very impressive numbers Hp and Tq wise. It all sounded good to me but the piece hasn't been released on their website yet. So I'm looking for the word "o" mouth info.

I heard it was going to look like the supercharger airbox but nothing to confirm this yet.

Any thought or info??

Thanks

If you search for it you can get some pics from SEMA, i even emailed COmptech sometime in the first week in January, they told me it'd be out in about a week and a half. Well it's almost the end of the month and it's about a month overdue(they said december). I do remember them saying however that its very similar to the supercharger CF intake, but slightly different.

1) Will not provide butt-pulling gains.

2) Not due till the end of January, but their due date seems to move out 1-2 weeks everytime I call up.

3) Not as loud as the AEM/INJEN CAI, but not as quiet as stock either.

4) Uses the Comptech foam filter which is old technology, but it works.

5) It'll be a quality piece.

This is the intake I'm looking to get. I hope that it doesn't change the feel of the stock box powerband (e.g., no fading up at high revs).

The cost is $350, but S2ki.com members get 10 percent off. So expect ~$350 shipped.

I read in another trend that it has a peak HP gain of 9 and a peak TQ gain of 13lb-ft. Those sound like good #'s to me for the money. Then if you add the V-AFC they say you get 15hp/19-20lb-ft. Now they may be a little high but even if its only 11/16 hp/tq that would still be good to me.

Have you heard anything like this or maybe different #'s??

Thanks for the feedback

4400 rpm +9 hp and 10 ft lb (largest hp increase over stock)
6000 rpm +6 hp
7000 rpm +2 hp
8000 rpm +4 hp

Peak numbers don't mean schmidt.

VAFC isn't as smart as the stock ECU.

Those numbers look good, but they also come from the horse's mouth. We need independent tests done to confirm.
