Default Comptech CAI Install

Putting a CAI on my 2002. The box is giving me fits. Could not find a thread on it. The main problem is the rear bracket and bolt on the box..Anyone have this problem?

You have to read the installation instructions and follow them to the letter. The trick is to put the rear bolt in, then the side bolt. The tighten them down. That is if I remember correctly it has been a long time since I installed mine.

with what he said.

i installed mine yesterday. it was hard enough to get the side bolt to bite. in so many words:

start the bolt on the bracket on the side
start the bolt on the rear
while pushing down on bottom the bottom of the box, tighten these bolts.

hope this works out for you!

I tried to install mine last night as well. I could get any two combinations of bolts to fit but could never get a third bolt in any location. This thing fits horribly. I finally decided to just use the front and rear bolts and leave the fender bolt off. I got it all installed only to see that one the nipples on the intake piping is cracked.

Yes I know how to install this. I had a previous Comptech CAI that was the older design that sat too high and rubbed the hood. I sold that to get this new one because they dropped the height of the intake chamber a half inch as to not rub the hood on the 02-05's

i too had trouble, but i found it easier to widen the holes on the air box a little. it gives a little more room for play.

I drilled out the holes on the box as well. This helped some. I did not use the fender bolt. The lid would not line up if I used it. The thing sounds great and looks good. I was disappointed in the install. I was a believer that Comptech was top notch. After hearing Ubetit and an Engineer from Honda R& D speak poorlyabout the instructions/ install, my opinion changed. Ubetit had this CAI before and no issues. He had pulled it off and out it on several different times. He was very surprised he new version was so hard to install. I know mod installs never go as planned, but come on, drilling the box to get it to fit?

question to the comptech CAI experts. What is the deal with the front mount bracket. my kit didn't come with one?? I used the original front mount from the original intake?
I had a hard time fitting the stupid box??? what is up with that. then my hood prop doesn't fit either. It looks like the box is too far in towards the engine bay and doesn't sit flush with outside fender.

Does anyones intake rattle around 5-6K rpm? My intake is louder than the exhaust? is this normal? I mean it sounds great but it's so loud that my car rattles? or is the rattling from my intake resonating?

Lemme give you guys a tip, not in the instructions:

On the rear mounting tab, there's a wiring harness that runs over it. Remove the stock tab, move the harness under the tab, and re-install.

Box will fit perfectly everytime...I've got about 7 or 8 under my belt.

No need to drill the box, ever.

This intake requires a little out of the box thinking, it is NOT your typical bolt on. It is an absolute perfect fit.

If you guys are patient, I can take some pics on Monday. I've got a car here without an engine and pics would be very descriptive.

My comptech intake is so loud it vibrates the interior of car???? it's louder than my exhaust. does anyone have this problem. I mean it sounds great and all. But I'm just wondering if I'm not messing anything up. Is this normal that the intake will vibrate stuff around or is it my comptech intake resonating and making my whole car vibrate. This vibration is especially prominent around 5-7K rpm range.... I'm concerned

please help, I hope I'm not messing anything up?? I hope i didn't install the comptech intake wrong? what a pain in the A** that was too.....
