Default Comptech Exhaust: Quiet Tip Insert?

I need to decrease the loudness of my exhaust and noticed that Comptech offers a quiet tip insert. From their site:

If our exhaust is just a little too
loud for you and you want to drop it a
couple db, our Quiet Tip Insert will do it.
Fits our 3.5" tips only, not the 4".
Includes drill bit & self tapping screw.

So I'm presuming that I'm going to need to drill the tip to secure this insert. I'm not too familiar with inserts so my questions are:

1. Although the performance increase from this exhaust is negligible, would there be a decrease?

2. Is there any other way to secure this insert does does not involve drilling?

Thanks!

Cool. Missile launchers! Watch out, they may start charging extra for that feature.

Great... the last thing I'd want to do is to shoot out some projectile at a fellow S2K'er during a canyon run. Maybe drilling won't be so bad afterall...

I called comptech and they told me there is no significant weight difference in their muffler vs the stock muffler.
You may want to look at others that will increase hp, decrease weight, sound good but not too loud but I do not know which one this would be yet.

So SilverSurfer, did the inserts make a significant difference in loudness, in your opinion? And, the they change the tone of the sound?
