Default Comptech Supercharger feels slower

Recently I installed the Comptech ESM after using the supercharger with just the boost check valve. It is much smoother driving and when I switch gears but it also feels much slower. Maybe its just because it is not as jerky as before but it doesnt seem to have the pull it did above 6k. Have any of you experianced this? Im going to try to get out to have the car dynoed and tuned this week so then I can see if there is less power or if it is just me.

The ESM shouldn't cause a decrease in power . The s is very sensitive to heat - was it significantly cooler before adding the esm, or less humid out? I for one will be fine with the ESM installed, knowing that it is more reliable in long run. Id still be interested to see a new dyno of your car compared to the one with the check valve though..

Well it has been rather hot lately so that would effect it some. I will post my dyno results after I get it tuned.

If you have it, please post up your 'before esm' dyno too

Here was one of my runs pre ESM. This was actually the only run with a smooth power curve. Every other time it would run up to VTEC then the HP would drop very quickly and then slowly go up again. It seemed that the ECU and the V-AFC were fighting back and forth and we got this run by just clearing out all the settings in the V-AFC. I was dissapointed with the numbers to say the least but after two hours at the dyno shop I figured out that the problem was not with the engine or the supercharger, so I felt better about that. The ESM has made the car ride much smoother and I cant wait to see what it dynos at this time.

What voltage is the ESM set at?
Where do you have it wired in?

I cut the white wire from the V-AFC to the harness and wired the ESM between them. I connected the power wire to the ignition on accessory fuse. Im not sure what voltage the ESM is set at. I just got it from Comptech and installed it. It looked like on the instructions that no settings needed to be changed. Could that have something to do with it?

Also, check the supercharger belt. I took my car to the dyno after putting my comptech headers and testpipe on, (before the installs, i was running around 273 at 8000rpms) and was extremely disappointed when the best pull I got was 252 at 8700rpms. It turns out, it was 30 degrees warmer and my belt was slipping in the higher rpms. I honestly couldn't tell it was slipping until I saw it in the results of the dyno. I knew it seemed like I was losing power, but I just figured I was getting used to my car. More than likely, it's probably just the heat...but in my case, the belt had a lot to do with it. Good luck

Dave

how do you adjust the esm voltage, and for what reason? Wont it always limit the MAP sensor signal to 3 volts ?

Dave - what was your solution to the belt slipping?

Reignman - thanks for posting the graph. So, are you still using a vafc with 0'd values, or have you just removed it?

I think there are two holes in the case to measure voltage across ...... it should be set at 2.92 volts.
If the belt is slipping then tighten it.
What color wire wire you got going toward the V-AFC?
