Default Comptech supercharger opinions wanted

Let me start off by saying I have researched the board and thoroughly impressed by the amount of knowledge within it. It is possibly one of the reasons I purchased my s2000 rather than an m roadster.

I just purchased a 02 silver/black s2000. I am very interested in purchasing the comptech charger but really want to hear from those that have it some of the drawbacks or issues they have had. I'm not one of those nutso guys looking for peak horsepower, I would rather sacrifice maximum power for better reliability. So reliability is #1 for me. I believe I have seen dyno's of around 300rwhp with this setup, is this with the comptech kit stock?

Secondly, if anybody has a blown s2000 in the chicagoland area, I would love to check it out.

Thanks in advance!

The only issues have been the check valve, the brackets, catalytic converter, and any possible damage the extra HP could have on your drivetrain.

The check valve has been replaced with an electronic ESM that does the job of the check valve, the brackets can be replaced under warranty by Comptech, and hopefully will have a replacement part soon that is stronger. The stock catalytic converter doesn't seem to be able to take the extra vibration that the SC puts on the car, after about 15K miles it can seperate and damage the 02 sensor along with itself. Comptech now sells a high-flow cat that might be stronger. The drivetrain issues are just issues with how I drive the car.

30K plus miles and many track days and no problems other than what Wes has listed.

If reliablity is your number one concern, going forced induction probably isn't the route for you. If you want to go faster, and don't mind having to tinker every so often to fix the common problems... the SC is the way to go.

Does what it is advertised to do. I've found Comptech to be helpful. I had a CHECK ENGINE light when first installed and Comptech was quick on the phone to help. My experience has been whine with whistles at low speed, slightly worse fuel economy (30 to 26 mpg) and get-up-and-go when called on. I like it and from all I know I'd buy no other - mainly because it's the only one legal in my state.
