Default considering new intake, what to purchase?

ok with the new found info of power loss from my injen short ram, im going to buy a new one for sure. what intakes are PROVEN to gain horsepower at all times of the year, even in 100 degree weather. any experiences would be great. id even consider the ARC intake if its worth the money. thank you all

well it all depends on how much u want to spend.

you could go with a 4ig, good intake good sound, cheap

the aem or injen cai are very simmilar to the 4ig except they have a nifty sticker and a higher price tag

you could get a spoon air duct, or a copy

and fibaly you could get a mugen or j's racing

the 4ig aem and injen provide a little hp, but run the risk of water ingestion

the air ducts for the stock air box supposidly provide gains at speed, very minor risk of hydrolock

the mugen or j's do the same thing as the spoon but they provide there own air box with an integrated duct

the arc wont fit without modification, i think one member had it

oh yeah mabye search a bit to

I like my AEM!! Sounds better and I know it has to help with the heat around my neck of the woods.

The AusS2000 one is no longer made. He stopped marketing these.
As for the JR and the "snorkel", this is a fine mod, BUT it will not produce any gains as the original poster wanted. These will help to keep what HP you've got and not lose it to heat.
The AEM types have "proven" gains, sometimes impressive gains depending on who's reporting the dyno. But, as said, there are "water" risks, though very slight. NO PAIN, NO GAIN!

No pain no Gain? Hell of a risk. Are the snorkel ones like the spoon really that great?

Crackerballer, "great" is a relative term and purely dependent upon perception. Remember, the snorkel types don't gain you anything, just helps to keep what you've already got. The big PLUS with these is that they allow you to use the stock airbox, which is well designed as a water catcher in the event of injestion.

4IG uses bigger filter than AEM and always shows gains from dynos I've seen.

Very good point xviper, all mods are useless to a hydrolocked engine, so if you maintian what u have with a snorkel, and the stock air box is already a good safety feature preventing hydrolock, why buy anything at all?
