Yes there is.......But I'm not sure which way around you place the hoses to do so!!

The other way to do this would be to get a Hondata inlet gasket which just blocks the relevent holes, sorry!! I could'nt be of more help but if you PM a guy called Biker1 he has done this and will know which way the hoses go.

I have bypassed the TB. This is how to do it.

Locate the coolant line going into the front of the TB, it is on the underside of the TB. Locate the coolant line going out of the TB (drivers side of TB).

Follow each coolant line to their source/destination. The source of the coolant is a fitting near the front driver

Easy to do, but why? Reliability in racing?

If you think that it will have a significant effect on intake air temp, think again - it is a velcoity/area thing. The exchange of heat into the intake is tiny.

I did it as a matter of principle. Here in Florida there is no need for the coolant to run thru the TB, since we run virtually no risk of having the butterfly freeze open in the winter. The mod was ez and has no downside for me. I agree with you that the upside is probably negligible at speed, and that is why I ended up installing Hondata's gasket - to minimize any heat soak, particularly while the car is stopped at a light or in traffic, when the velocity of air thru the TB is very low.

byw - the coolant bypass is a common mod across many makes - I did it to my 85 vette also.

It is greater than you think. Check out my writeup for more info. The TB/IAC heating is only a part of the overall picture (head to manifold heating) but every bit helps. Note that this is a bad idea for you people up far north where snow is on the ground for months at a time.

Yes - you could reconnect during the cold months - just don't forget!

When cold, the coolant system is not pressurized but you will still lose a few drops of coolant when disconnecting the lines - a rag under the connections will catch dripping.

Check Marcucci's link - great write up, photos, and evaluation. Click the photos for full size pics.
