Coolant leak
I have a coolant leak I’m trying to diagnose. The leak seems to be coming from the passenger side of the engine block closest to the cabin. I took off the heat shield for a picture. I have a good size puddle under the car about the surface area of a footprint every time I turn off the car. Anything special I can check before handing it to a shop/pull the block?
It could be coming from the water hoses next to the battery and the firewall. Have you checked those hoses in that area? And how bad is the leak? Reservoir tank gets empty completely?
i have checked the hoses and they are all dry. I just topped off the coolant (it was 2 quarts low) and as soon as I did, the leak came back without even trying to turn it over. The leak is slow and constant when off and gets steadier when running.
I've had the odd leak on my car, like all fluids the leak can actually start a few feet away and travel down various engine and chassis parts before it drops to the ground. Best way is to jack up the car on 4 stands, get under the car with a bright light and you will surely find the source. Mine have always been loose clamps/hoses with slow drips on older Honda hoses and tension clamps , but there can be a number of sources, get under the car and you will see what's going on.
