Default coolant a little low

I noticed that my clooant level is just a hair below the low marker on the plastic container under the hood. Is there some special coolant i need for this car? will just water be fine? will the walmart 50/50 mix variety be acceptable? Should i get it fully flushed (2004/w 15.5k miles)?-thanks

the is an overflow resvoir, dont think your low because of that. open up the radiator cap and fill up there if you think you are low

Color is meaningless and can be mixed. Prestone 50/50 for all makes and models foreign and domestic might save you a trip to the dealer.
No doubt there are others but you'd have to check first.

Just make sure the coolant you use is safe for aluminum engines. Use a 50/50 mix (not just water). When in doubt, buy the coolant from Honda.

The official Honda coolant is only about $12 per gallon. In more than six years of ownership, living in the warm South Carolina climate, I have found that the overflow reservoir loses in the neighborhood of six ounces of coolant every few months. I think that is simply normal evaporation from a nonpressurized storage vessel.

The coolant system is supposed to be completely closed, and free from loss.. but the overflow reservoir is most likely not air tight. You can top off 50/50 with aluminum safe coolant and water, or just spend a bit extra for Honda type II pre mixed.. No reason to flush it

If it's just a few ounces, it is not likely to do any harm. You will still be pretty close to the 50/50 mix of ethylene glycol and water which is the optimum.
