Default Cracked Pilot Bearing

Greetings all, have a long rambling rant about some service that has been done on my 2000 s2k and wanted to see if anyone else has had similar experiences.

I while ago I had finally gotten the dreaded 2nd gear grinding fix done (summers are short up here in NH and wanted to have all the fun I could in it *grin*) as part of that I asked them to replace my clutch (the technote regarding the 4k-3k noise). Well they didn't, but that doesn't really matter...

So I picked up my car after they do the trannie work, the steering wheel is loose (has play in it, so it _sucked_ to drive) and the clutch feels way wrong. When pushing the clutch to the floor I sometimes felt what can best be described as a "pop" against my foot, felt like the clutch cable was loose or something.

So I bring it back, tell them that the steering sucks and the clutch feels off.

They check it out and hand it back to me with the "everything is within spec" bs excuse. Although I must say the steering felt marginally better.

So I bring it back, talk to the service manager and explain that this is crazy, it is a sports car and it now feels like crap and I still haven't gotten the new clutch. So I leave it again.

I finally got it back yesterday (after they had it for a week). It took so long because they were waiting on a part, the pilot bearing to be exact.

So has anyone else had a cracked pilot bearing replaced?

I know that they cracked it when putting in the new trannie (dur, just simple deduction) and I am severely pissed that they a) gave it back to me in such crappy condition b) looked at it again and said everything was up to spec

Luckly after much theatening and the like I am now happy with the car again, of course it is after about 2 1/2 weeks of time without it.

Well enough rant... Anyone know a good dealer that they trust in the southern NH/Northern Mass area? Mine which starts with a C and is in Lawerence MA they suck big time.... I wish I hadn't bought it from them, but hey who know that their service department would suck so much.

Cheers

-Dave

Definitely document and report this to American Honda Motors. The 800 number is in your manual.

Pilot bearing or Throw-out bearing?

So did they replace the clutch or not? By the time they bothered to remove the tranny twice.........

Note: Stock Flywheel P/N assembly includes a Pilot Bearing

I take mine to Herb Chambers in Burlington, MA. I would rate them about a 7, maybe 8, out of 10 overall, but they've never mistreated my little girl (as far as I know). No new scratches, no new miles. In fact, when I took it in for the seatbelt recall, the odometer didn't even click over a single 10th of a mile...they drove it in, fixed it, drove it back to the lot.
