I never use my cruise so i figured why not take it out and have a little better looking bay. I read up on it real quick in some other threads and got it done in maybe an hour. i work pretty slow. anyway i removed the cruise control and modified the bracket that holds it and the overflow tank. came out pretty nice. simple mod for anyone thinking about it.

3 bolts to take the unit out, then 2 for the bracket, also pop the overflow tank off and lay it aside


heres the little template i made to eliminate the cruise portion but keep the tank holder


little work with an angle grinder


smoothed out sanded and painted, looks pretty clean!

 

nice! i did the exact same thing. painted the bracket as well.

did you do anything with the bracket by the pedal? it flops down and gets annoying sometimes for me.

 

yep I removed it. if you unbolt the pedal bracket two 12mm. You can see the pin that goes through that has that little arm on it with the spring. There is a flat washer that holds it on, you have to use something very thin to pry it up, I used a razor blade, wedged that in, then used a thin screwdriver, and so on until I could fit a long screw driver in there and pry it off.

 

Do this to the little cruise contol lever instead of the throttle lever. It will slip right out along with its spring.
