I think I'll make my own mounting plates out of some steel just in case.

I'd actually recommend getting a fabricator to weld on larger mounting plates to the ends of the bar, as well as the backing plates.

Not really the same thing, but I remember last time I was dirt riding in Moab, there was a jeep at the hotel that rolled. The entire roll cage just pushed through the mounting plates and body of the car, compressing everything underneath it.

Not a pretty site.

If your car, heaven forbid, ever starts to barrel roll, an enormous amount of force will be placed on those mounting plates...

Ok it's in!

I still need to drill the holes, and to figure out any cutting and fitting issues. As far as I can tell only a section of the carpet needs a slit and the plastic tray behind the seats needs slots for the bars.

Putting the interior back together is going to be a challenge.

The bar is a nice fit and the top just clears it.

Here a a few pics, at some point I will put together a document for the full install. I took photos of most every step.

gfacter. I'm glad someone is documenting the install. It will defiantly help when others do there installations.

Does the steel roll bar come powdercoated or painted?

Was stripping all those parts necessary in order to install this particular rollbar? I've seen one on the car before and, as it appeared to me, it just simply sits over the stock roll hoops. The only part I think needed to be taken out/cut was the plastic cover that the softtop sits on when it's down.
