Default CV Boot question

So I changed my diff fluid the other day and I noticed that my inside cv boot is leaking. I also have been hearing the clicking lately too, so I know that the 2 are related. So i'm going to add more grease and to tighten the strap. My question is can I add grease and tighten the strap without removing the axle?

Part of the question will be, "Why is it leaking?"

If the boot is cut and needs to be replaced, then you do need to remove the axle. If the clamp has just broken, then you can reband it pretty easily.

IIRC, the Honda boot clamps use a special strap tool, but any NAPA should sell generic clamps and tools. Just ask at the desk.

A few months back I swapped the inner joints so i'm pretty sure I just left it a little loose because it actually looks like its coming out from under the boot. Thank you for the help, btw. What grease would you recommend I use?

Any moly CV joint grease. You might be able to get a syringe and squirt-pack it in through the loose edge. It might be too thick, though.

I don't remember off the top of my head, but it was blue. An inner cv joint that is low on grease could cause a click/clunk when changing directions right? I already retorqued and greaseed the axle nut too.
