Daily drivers on LSD.
To all you out there with an aftermarket LSD. What is the deal? I have a 1.5 way KAAZ 4 clutch diff and it is effin obnoxious. Is it broken or is it just a "racing" sound to fall in love with? Seriously, i looked up KAAz's website and they say a distinct clunking sound is heard in low speed on-throttle cornering. Yeah i get clunking, i get a mean vibration, consistent, but brutal, when i turn and accelerate softly from a stop. If i give more juice, i start squealin a tire, which is expected. I'm just wonderting if it is supposed to be that loud and harsh of a clunking at low speed driving or if i have improper endplay or sheared a spline. Any input appreciated, thanks.
First, how old is the unit, how many miles on it?
Did you brake it in correctly, what fluid is in the differential?
Who did the install and how long ago was it done?
How cold is it were you are?
I have this same unit I bought it used from an owner who swore it was broke and blown. When it arrived it looked in very nice condition. I sat it on a shelf for a few month thinking about what I wanted to do with it

I shut mine up with a full quart LE607 and an ounce of lube control lc20. Tilt it up high so you overfill. Smooth at low spd turns and still grippy

The differential must be able to vent and breath properly in order to lubricate and cool it's self.
Also as good as the LE fluid is the new LE-1605 is not any good to use with a clutch type LSD.
You must use a good, none synthetic gear oil and limited slip additive to have the unit perform as the manufacture meant it to.
In my diff I use a gear oil cocktail that works very well and allows the LSD and gears to work as they should.
I use 70% Lucas 80/90 gear oil and 30% Lucas oil stabilizer. The stabilizer will keep the oil stabile at 90W and the anti shock helps keep the oil from braking down under pressure. The rear will run quieter with this blend as well
I also add to this cocktail 2 oz of TRX brand LSD additive made by the CRC company. You only need 2 oz because, the rear is small and holds a little less than a quart of fluid total.

To me, sounds like your Lsd needs to be broken in
