I have to respectively disagree, it is not a good idea to over fill the diff case.

The differential must be able to vent and breath properly in order to lubricate and cool it's self.

Also as good as the LE fluid is the new LE-1605 is not any good to use with a clutch type LSD.
You must use a good, none synthetic gear oil and limited slip additive to have the unit perform as the manufacture meant it to.

In my diff I use a gear oil cocktail that works very well and allows the LSD and gears to work as they should.
I use 70% Lucas 80/90 gear oil and 30% Lucas oil stabilizer. The stabilizer will keep the oil stabile at 90W and the anti shock helps keep the oil from braking down under pressure. The rear will run quieter with this blend as well
I also add to this cocktail 2 oz of TRX brand LSD additive made by the CRC company. You only need 2 oz because, the rear is small and holds a little less than a quart of fluid total.
Just giving my before and after experience. After doing the overfill with LE and LC20 additive, the grinding STOPPED. Six months running and no ill effects.

Try getting your hands on the Redline LSD additive. Its a little squirt bottle that you add to the oil.

I have a KAAZ in my F20C based race car. I need to change the oil every 2-300mile to stop it creaking and cracking. This is extreme use and probably equivalent to many thousands of road miles (LSD operation wise).

With my KAAZ after a weekends racing it makes loud cracks around corners and the rear shudders badly on turns. A new dose of oil and it soon quieten downs.

The best oil I've found has been Penrite ten-tenths 85w140 synthetic. Its an Aussie blended oil.

Chris.

[QUOTE]
First, how old is the unit, how many miles on it?
Did you brake it in correctly, what fluid is in the differential?
Who did the install and how long ago was it done?
How cold is it were you are?[QUOTE]

I bought it used about a year ago and have put only about 5000 miles on it.

When i got it, dude said he did the break in and it worked fine, he said he put less then a 1000.

I still went to kaaz.com and did the break in and added the recommended type of fluid. I checked my fluid recently and it was a little over full, maybe that's a prob? I will change and adequately fill it today and repost later.

I live in southern cali, and its not the cold. When i first get in the car, it is nice and oem like, but after driving a few miles, it starts that rumble in low speed cornering and if i put it in neutral and just turn really sharp, i can hear it go cluck cluck cluck cluck cluck until i straighten out a bit.

My buddy, an offroad enthusiast, says it sound like his truck before he blew his rear end, so that was the reason for the post in the first place. He's a little over worrying and this is not my first diff upgrade either. I upgrade to a full locker on my truck with like a 60 degree slip angle before full engage ment and you could hear a solid clunk befor wheel squeel if you'd try and do a figure eight. I appreciate the racing sound of catless, lightened clutch and flywheel, and my diff, but my buddy just got me all nerve wracked. I actually havent reset my radio for the 3000 miles since i've installed the jdm motor. It like a symphony and a diagnostic at the same time. Thanks for all the feedback so far... Ryan

From Kaaz's site: http://www.kaazusa.com/techHelp/tech_Help.htm

[QUOTE]
Chattering Noise.

All clutch type LSD's make chattering noise under low speed turns. This is normal for these types of LSD. The reason for this chattering noise under low speed turns is that the clutch plates are rubbing against each other thus giving you the limited slip action. If the breaking procedure is completed according to the diagram above and proper maintenance of the LSD is performed, the chattering noise will gradually decrease after accumalating some miles.

Oil for Kaaz LSD

It is important to use 80W/90 GL-5 specification gear oil on Kaaz LSD. We highly recommend using our own Kaaz LSD fluid.

DO NOT USE SYNTHETIC BASE OIL ON KAAZ LSD. Kaaz LSD may not function smoothly.

Differential Oil Change

When one has a Kaaz LSD, it is important to do routine maintenance of LSD Oil. We recommend to change LSD oil every 5000 miles for daily driven and occassional track use vehicles. If the vehicle is full race,we recommend more frequent oil change.

By changing the LSD Oil , Kaaz LSD will give you a long life span. Take care of it just like your engine.[QUOTE]

Kaaaaaazs are infamous for noise and weird dynamics. I hate the noise and decel lockup, detroit locker city. Try the factory fluids and after 1k after nothing improves, try the redline, then sell it.

lol. Yeah that decel lockup can be pretty unbalancing sometimes. But i changed the fluid with 80w90 gl-5 and after the first warm up she became a lot quiter. Now it clunks when its cold and is smoother and quieter when the fluid is warm. The old oil must have been terribly broken down. Thanks again everyone for the input.
