Default Damaged engine wiring harness repair

Whats up, took a trip out to Adams Motorsports park last Saturday and during my second session, the oil filter came loose and spewed oil all over the right side of the engine and caught on fire. The car was immediately shut off and the fire was put out within minutes. After cleaning off all the fire retardant and wondering the extent of the damage, I come to find the only real damage was the engine wiring harness leading up to the spark plug coils was burned down to the copper wiring.

Instead of having to replace the whole engine wiring harness, would it be possible to just cut out the damaged wiring and replace that section by splicing in new wiring? Was able to get a used engine wiring harness off an 03 ap1 and was thinking of cutting out that section and splicing it into the damaged section of the wiring harness currently on the car. Could that work? Or would replacing the engine harness with the undamaged one be a better solution? ( Kind of want to avoid since it looks like a huge pain to replace.) thanks

Yes, you can splice in, to repair. I don't believe there were any significant changes between 02 and 03, if any...but check service manual or helms manual. I'd recommend soldering all connections and covering each soldered connection with heat shrink tubing.

If only the coilpack plugs are damaged there are new ones are available https://www.balladesports.com/produc...lug-repair-kit
Be very careful and check everything a few extra times though before you starting up the car.

The coil pack plugs are fine, it's just the part of the harness that comes out of the valve cover and goes to the vtec solenoid is damaged.
