1. If you can take some pictures and post it here, it would help a lot.

2. You're not suppose to be able to detach the exhaust pipes from the muffler itself. especially you said this is comptech exhaust.

3. Did you happen to notice any broken welds?

4. Did you recently bottom out your car in the rear really badly?

To fix the problem, I would just take it to a muffler shop and have them reweld it to the pipe and call it done. But w/o seeing an actually muffler, its hard for anyone to say if there's anything else wrong with it.

Sounds like some of the welds aren't there anymore. Grab a flashlight and see if the welds are intact. If not it's an easy fix. Just take it to a muffler shop and they should be able to fix her up.

So there is supposed to be welding around the exhaust pipe and muffler? I was thinking there was some sort of slip-fit/tighten down mechanism that was damaged and fell off....

Agree with the others. Just take it in to a muffler shop. Should be a simple job at a small price.

Is it safe to drive to the muffler shop in the condition stated?

If I were to chose to un-install it to get it repaired, is this hard? Any precautions I need to worry about?

Thanks again

How about un-install/re-installing this thing, is it hard? Any threads on how to approach the problem?
